Early Music Reviews give the album 5/5
stars, and write:
"There are many recordings of Vivaldi’s
recorder concertos but this is certainly one that stands out, not just for Dan
Laurin’s exciting and seemingly effortless recorder playing and his wonderfully
imaginative ornamentation of the slow movements, but also for the magnificent
ensemble playing of the whole team. Laurin’s interesting and informative
booklet notes are the icing on the cake.”
Norwegian culture weekly Morgenbladet writes:
"Dan Laurin and 1B1 find the balance between theory and practice in Antonio
Vivaldi's flute concerts. An album with seven Vivaldi concerts could be monotonous.
But here, the phrasing is sophistical and varied. This applies both within the
works, and in the composition of the album as a whole. The final finesse is
secured by Laurin’s tasteful ornamentation, rich in content, but without being
mannered or exaggerated.”
